About this role

We are seeking a highly motivated Full Stack WordPress Developer to join our team and create school websites. The ideal candidate develops and maintains WordPress-based sites ensuring they are user-friendly, visually appealing, and easy to navigate. Responsibilities include collaborating with school administrators, teachers, and IT staff to support school missions and goals.

Daily tasks involve developing, maintaining, and updating WordPress websites for numerous schools. Design new features, functionalities, and templates while optimizing for user experience and accessibility. Troubleshoot issues, monitor traffic and analytics, and ensure security, backups, and maintenance.

Collaborate with administrators, teachers, marketing, and IT staff to determine requirements and create project plans. This virtual position is open to residents of the 50 states and D.C., with no formal supervisory responsibilities. Work independently and as part of a team in a remote environment.

Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices to inform ongoing improvements. Experience working with schools or educational organizations is a plus. Passionate developers can apply for this opportunity to impact educational websites.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2-5 years of experience in WordPress development and web development
  • Strong experience with WordPress development, including custom themes, plugins, and functionality
  • Strong experience with front-end web development technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, and AJAX
  • Strong experience with PHP programming language
  • Understanding of web design principles and user experience best practices
  • Experience with website analytics and monitoring tools
  • Experience with website security, backups and maintenance
  • Ability to clear required background check
