About this role
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior WordPress Developer with a minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience in designing, developing, and maintaining WordPress websites (+5 websites and more). This role requires deep expertise in custom theme development, template creation, plugin integration, and performance optimization. The ideal candidate builds user-friendly, responsive, high-performance websites with clean, scalable code.
Design and develop custom WordPress themes and templates from scratch based on design mockups or brand guidelines. Maintain and enhance existing websites, ensuring optimal performance, security, and user experience. Troubleshoot and resolve issues, bugs, or plugin conflicts while optimizing for speed, SEO, and cross-browser compatibility.
Collaborate with design, content, and marketing teams to implement website features and functionality. Experience working for marketing agencies is valued. Implement best practices in coding standards, site architecture, and technical SEO.
Stay updated with the latest WordPress trends, tools, and technologies. Preferred experience includes integrating third-party APIs like Mailchimp or Stripe, headless WordPress with REST API, and CI/CD pipelines. Manage deadlines independently while communicating effectively.
Requirements
- 10+ years of professional experience in web development with a focus on WordPress
- Expert in PHP, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and MySQL
- Strong experience developing custom WordPress themes and plugins
- Deep understanding of the WordPress core, hooks, filters, and APIs
- Proficient with page builders (e.g., Elementor, WPBakery) and Gutenberg
- Familiarity with Git and version control workflows
- Experience with website optimization tools (e.g., Google PageSpeed Insights, GTmetrix)
- Understanding of responsive and mobile-first design principles, SEO best practices, schema markup, and accessibility standards
