About this role

We are seeking a highly motivated Full Stack WordPress Developer to join our team to create and maintain school websites. The ideal candidate will develop and maintain WordPress-based websites for schools, ensuring they are user-friendly, visually appealing, and easy to navigate. This role involves collaborating with school administrators, teachers, and IT staff to implement features supporting school missions.

Daily tasks include developing, maintaining, and updating WordPress sites for numerous schools, along with designing new features, functionalities, and templates. Developers ensure optimal user experience, accessibility, and provide architectural oversight, code refactoring, and reviews. They also assist in migrations, bug triaging, and resolving production issues.

Collaboration occurs with school administrators, teachers, marketing, and IT staff to determine requirements and create project plans. The role manages DevOps processes, testing, deployments, security, monitoring, pull requests, and code merges. End-to-end accountability covers development, testing, deployment, and post-production ownership.

Monitor website traffic, user behavior, and analytics to drive improvements, while ensuring security, backups, and maintenance. Stay current with industry trends and best practices in WordPress development. This position offers involvement in educational websites with no formal supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in WordPress development and web development
  • Proficient with both front and back-end development for WordPress
  • Strong experience with front-end web development technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, and AJAX
  • Experience with server-side programming languages specifically PHP, and interfacing with multiple backend APIs and Microservices
  • Well versed with data caching and MySQL as it relates to WordPress
  • Understanding of web design principles and user experience best practices
  • Experience with website analytics and monitoring tools
  • Experience with website security, backups and maintenance
