About this role

This Tech Lead role is the technical owner for our Mumbai-based WordPress and Drupal teams, focused primarily on ExperienceLite and SLA support retainers across 50+ client platforms. You will be accountable for technical quality, stability, security, and delivery across BAU support, minor enhancements, and continuous improvement.

Reporting into Technical Directors, you will collaborate closely with UK-based delivery, account, and product stakeholders. The role requires owning triage and technical prioritisation across support queues while leading incident response for production issues including root cause analysis and remediation plans.

You will mentor and coach developers in Mumbai through regular check-ins and hands-on guidance in complex areas. Building a strong support culture focused on ownership, clarity, and predictable delivery ensures problems are discussed early and surfaced with solutions.

Staying up to date with relevant CMS ecosystem developments allows you to assess impact and recommend practical improvements that reduce support load over time. This includes maintaining technical documentation for recurring fixes, release notes, runbooks, and platform patterns.

Requirements

Experience leading technical delivery for WordPress and Drupal platforms in a support and retainer environment.
Strong understanding of secure development practices, vulnerability management, and proactive platform maintenance.
Proven ability to perform root cause analysis and implement preventative measures for production incidents.
Skill in technical scoping, estimating, and documenting assumptions, risks, and dependencies for client work.
Experience conducting code reviews focused on quality, maintainability, and performance across CMS codebases.
Ability to mentor developers and build a support culture centred on ownership and predictable delivery.

Responsibilities

Take overall responsibility for the technical delivery, quality, and governance of Mumbai WordPress and Drupal support teams.
Own triage and technical prioritisation across support queues, ensuring issues are categorised, routed, and resolved with pace and consistency.
Lead incident response for production issues, including root cause analysis, clear remediation plans, and preventative actions.
Define and uphold best practices for secure development, platform updates, patching, and vulnerability management.
Own technical scoping and estimating for support and enhancement work, highlighting assumptions, risks, and dependencies.
Conduct regular code reviews to ensure quality, consistency, maintainability, and performance across WordPress and Drupal codebases.
Mentor and coach developers in Mumbai, including regular check-ins, pairing, and hands-on guidance in complex areas.
Help ensure SLA commitments are met by maintaining visibility of risk, capacity, and time spent versus estimates.
